The Dyke Marsh Trail

This is a fun trail to walk alongside the Potomac River.

In 1969 the marsh
was set aside as a wildlife preserve by an Act of Congress. Local residents report that by
1976 the area had been almost completely forgotten. The forest path is a fill road. It contains ruble from
demolished buildings from Washington DC. Despite the path's origins a true sense of wilderness is felt
with ease of access due to it's proximity to the metro area.
